Today, I want to share with you an important update and a special opportunity. As we continue our commitment to PFAS testing and sustainability, rising costs for materials, testing, and upcoming tariffs mean we’ll need to raise some of our prices in January. But before that happens, we want to give you one last chance to stock up on your favorite complexion products and earn valuable loyalty points during our purpose-driven sale.
Why We’re Raising Prices
Our promise to you is clean beauty that prioritizes transparency and safety, and we’re doing everything possible to live up to that standard. Here’s what sets us apart—and what drives these necessary changes:
- PFAS Testing: We’ve implemented testing for PFAS, total fluorine, and organic fluorine in our products—a responsibility that many in the beauty industry avoid.
- Rising Costs: The cost of raw materials, supplies, and the specialized testing we insist on continues to grow.
- Sustainability Focus: We refuse to compromise by using cheap petrochemical fillers or excessive plastic packaging. Instead, we choose safer, eco-friendly materials, which come at a higher cost.
- and now - tarriffs and although this raise was communicated to our retailers 3 months ago what it means is it's going to be even harder to do what we hope to accomplish with a testing program :(
This price adjustment is not an easy decision, but it’s one we must make to keep delivering on our promise of safe, ethical beauty.
The Journey of a Small Business
As a small, independent brand, this journey has never been easy. Unlike big corporate empires, we operate on passion and purpose, not massive profit margins. I want to share a few glimpses into the challenges we’ve faced to stay true to our mission:
- Cost Challenges: The expense of maintaining transparency and safety standards, combined with rigorous testing, has been immense. We don not use cheap petrochemicals and dimethicones to bring down our costs

Small Batches : To keep our quality control until we have a complete set of suppliers that can guarantee organic fluorine tested ingredients we have to keep it small

Competition from Larger Brands: Competing against companies with multi-million-dollar marketing budgets that prioritize profits over safety is a constant uphill battle.
- Personal Hurdles: At 60, I lost my first company and life savings when a would-be investor took my URLs for over 2.5 years. Even after winning them back in court, the financial and emotional toll was significant.
- A One-Woman Mission: Now at 70, I lead SAPPHO New Paradigm with the support of a small, passionate team who share my vision for changing the beauty industry for the better.
We don’t live lavish lifestyles or enjoy high margins. Everything we make is reinvested into creating safe, innovative products and paving the way for a healthier beauty industry.
