Breaking Up with Conventional Beauty: The end of the Series but Not The Fight
Introduction:
If you’ve been following our journey, you’ve seen the evolution. From our humble beginnings to where we are now, it’s been quite the ride. But as we wrap up our "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" comic series, we want to set the record straight—this is just the beginning. We’re done with the noise, and we’re more committed than ever to the mission we started with.
We're stepping away from any wish to sidle up with the beauty industry’s toxic giants and focusing on what really matters: creating products that protect, nourish, and empower. So, where do we go from here? We keep doing what we’re doing—fighting for cleaner, safer beauty for everyone.
The Beauty Industry’s Mess: We’re Done with the Noise
Big beauty companies have spent years feeding us the illusion of perfection while covering up some pretty ugly truths. Investors have forced so many small business owners into making compromises and it's all about the bottom line. We've all been there, wondering why we’re dealing with allergic reactions, toxic ingredients, and products that do more harm than good. These are the same companies that pour millions into marketing schemes, false promises, and that glossy "perfect" exterior—all while lying about what’s really inside the products. They even set up campaigns around helping with cancer. ( the cancer they help cause!!)
Monikers like "Radical Honesty" have gone by the wayside... thankfully but not without good cause. And I am noticing there are not as many investors pushing the plastic everything - although when you look around it does not appear that many companies in the clean beauty sphere really care... they are slick and they sound good but how much plastic are they using and more importantly - what are their organic fluorine numbers??
One can't be sustainable and be full of organic fluorine -- it is an oxymoron of the deadliest kind.
And the small companies can't afford to pay these chains ( big or small ) their 'dues' to compete with the newly funded giants - it's soul crushing and we are happy not to have anything to do with them .
We’ve reached the point where we can’t turn a blind eye to it anymore. We refuse to be part of an industry that doesn’t care about the well-being of people and the planet, only their bottom line. It’s time to walk away from the greed-driven, capitalist machine that only seems to benefit the ones at the top.
But we’re not just walking away. We’re taking a stand, and we’re pushing forward with a new vision—one that values transparency, sustainability, and real results. Our mission? To ensure that every product we create isn’t just good for you, but good for the world around us.
Healthy Bodies, Strong Babies, and Fighting PFAS
We’re not interested in following trends or getting swept up in the noise of conventional beauty. We’re here to create a healthier future, starting with the products we make. Our commitment to clean beauty is more than a buzzword; it’s a promise we keep with every product we formulate. We’re going beyond just clean—it’s about being transparent, using ingredients that are safe, and testing for PFAS because we believe that safety comes first.
We’re working with BCIT to tackle these issues head-on, advancing research and testing to make sure we’re doing our part to fight harmful chemicals. We’re in this fight because we care about keeping your bodies healthy and your babies strong.
It’s time for a beauty industry that’s truly clean, not one that hides behind a fancy label while poisoning the planet and its people. This isn’t just about beauty—it’s about building a better future for all of us.
Real Beauty, Real Value, No More Illusions
We’re building a company that values more than just profits. We’re not here to sell you an illusion or prey on your insecurities with glossy marketing and fake promises. We’re here to provide you with value that’s real. That means working hard to ensure our products are safe, effective, and as clean as possible.
We’ve chosen to fight against the conglomerates and even the competing companies that are forever copying us ( and never well) because we believe in a beauty industry that works for consumers - end users. It’s not about creating the most expensive product or the biggest ad campaign—it’s about creating products that do what they say they’ll do, with ingredients that are honest, clean, and the safest we can make.
Our commitment to equity and sustainability means we won’t compromise on what’s important. We’ll keep doing the hard work to ensure that every product we release reflects our values—no shortcuts, no greenwashing, no half-truths. Just clean beauty that works for you, the planet, and future generations.
Where Do We Go From Here?
So, what’s next for us? We’re forging ahead with our commitment to real, clean beauty. We’ll keep working on new products, testing for PFAS, and staying true to our values. We’re in this for the long haul, and we’re not interested in taking shortcuts. We’re not about "quick wins" or trying to compete with bigger, less transparent companies.
Instead, we’re focused on developing small batches of products that we can stand behind, products that are safe, effective, and sustainable. We’re working with the best in the field, collaborating with researchers, and developing cutting-edge formulas that are better for you and better for the planet.
It’s not going to be easy, but it’s the path we’ve chosen. We’re done following the crowd. We’re ready to make waves with the rebels, the ones who believe in a better way.
And most importantly, we’re grateful to you for sticking with us. As we continue this journey.
